Economics is a branch of social science deals with the study and analysis of how people use and react to resources, wealth, money, goods and services. Economics also analyzes and describes production, distribution, consumption of goods and services. 'Economics' comes from two Greek words, 'eco' meaning home and 'nomos' meaning accounts. There are many subdivisions for economics, out of which the two main areas of studies are macro economics and micro economics. Media study is a field of study that deals with the content, history, and effects of various media, especially the mass media. Bachelor of Arts or B.A. in Economics and Media Studies is a six semester double main program with three years of study designed to teach economics and media subjects. The program teaches the theoretical and practical aspects of Indian and international economics also teaches the various aspects of media industry. The course also helps students to develop analytical, judgmental, presentation and communication skills.
