Urdu is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in South Asia. Urdu is a Persianised standard register of the Hindustani language. Urdu and Hindi share a common Indo-Aryan vocabulary base and very similar phonology and syntax. It is one of the 22 official languages in India with approximately 70 million speakers around the world. Bachelor of Arts or B.A. in Urdu Language and Literature is a three year graduate course with six semesters of study. The program is designed to teach Urdu language and literature, Urdu grammar along with various social and cultural aspects of Urdu language. The course also helps students to understand the history and culture of Urdu speaking regions.
