Bachelor of Science or B.Sc. in Microbiology is a graduate course under the discipline of biology with a span of three years divided into six semesters of study. This branch of biology deals with the study of all living organisms that is too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as 'microbes'. These microbes play key roles in nutrient cycling, biodegradation/biodeterioration, climate change, food spoilage, the cause and control of disease, biotechnology, manufacture of biofuels and drugs, food production and processing etc. It encompasses fields including medicine, clinical research, agriculture, nanotechnology, chemical technology, diary, etc.
