B.Tech or Bachelor of Technology in Naval Architecture and Ship Building is a four-year professional undergraduate engineering program formulated to teach the art, science and technology of making ship ‘fit for purpose’. Naval architecture is not only the science and engineering of designing and manufacturing of seagoing vessels but also deals with the design and manufacturing of offshore structures of all kinds. Shipbuilding or ship construction is the complex activities concerned with the design and fabrication of all marine vessels. Shipbuilding is normally takes place in a specialized facility known as a shipyard and it is one of the oldest industries in the world. The objective of this eight-semester program is to provide the learner with a broad appreciation of the art, science and technology of navel architecture by teaching various topics like mechanics, hydro-statics, hydrodynamics, steady and unsteady body motion, strength of materials, design of structures, building and repair of marine structures etc.
