Economics is a branch of social science deals with the study and analysis of how people use and react to resources, wealth, money, goods and services. It also analyzes and describes production, distribution, consumption of goods and services. 'Economics' comes from two Greek words, 'eco' meaning home and 'nomos' meaning accounts. Development Economics is the branch of economics which deals on improving fiscal, economic and social conditions in developing countries. It focuses on how people in a society can escape poverty and enjoy a better standard of living. Master of Arts or M.A. in Development Economics is a two year postgraduate course with four semesters of study. The postgraduate program teaches the various factors of development economics such as health, education, working conditions, domestics and international policies and market conditions with a focus on improving conditions in the developing countries. The course also helps students to develop analytical, judgmental, presentation and communication skills.
