English is first spoken in early medieval England and it is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family. It became the leading language of international discourse in the 21st century. English is the dominant language of United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and many more countries. Master of Arts or M.A. in English Language and Literature is a two year postgraduate course with four semesters of study. Language is a set of words to express our ideas to others. On the other hand, literature is the thought which is expressed with the help of language. The aim of the course is to teach English language and literature, and also to understand the cultural and social aspects of English language and literature.
