Kathakali is one of the most popular and oldest classical dance - drama form in India which is originated in Kerala. The word Kathakali literally means "Story Play" and as the name implicate it is a storytelling form of art. Kathakali Sangeetham is the music belongs to sopana sangeetham category which is slow, strictly adhering to tala or rhythm and is central to a Kathakali performance. During the performance of kathakali the performer’s acting, expressions and body movements are strictly adhere to kathakali sangeetham. Master of Arts or M.A. in Kathakali Sangeetham is a postgraduate program with two years of study. This course is designed to provide excellent practical skills and excellent theoretical knowledge to students and this will help students to become an adept in Kathakali and kathakali sangeetham.
