Malayalam is the official language of Kerala, the southern state of India. It is a powerful Dravidian language with fifty six letters. The first part in the word ‘Malayalam’ ie, ‘Mala’ may refer to hill, and the last part ‘Alam’ may refer to depths. Master of Arts or M.A. in Malayalam is a two year postgraduate course with four semesters of study. The aim of the course is to teach Malayalam language and literature, Grammar, Poetry, Drama, Novels and Malayalam Communication, and also to understand the cultural and social aspects of Malayalam literature.
