Description :

Mridangam is a classical drum used in South Indian music especially in Carnatic form of music. Nowadays Mridangam is made from a large piece of hollowed out jackfruit wood. The two mouths or openings are covered with skin of goat, and attached to each other with tightly bound leather straps. It is shaped like a barrel whose right head is a little smaller than the left. Master of Arts or M.A. in Mridangam is a two year postgraduate program with four semesters of study. This program is designed to provide excellent practical skills and theoretical knowledge to students in mridangam, and this will helps students to become an adept in mridangam. The curriculum of M.A Mridangam program is designed to meet the requirements for program objectives which help students to build career in musical field.
