Master of Arts or M.A. in Syriac Language and Literature is a two year postgraduate course with four semesters of study. Syriac is an ancient language with a history of more than 3000 years. It is an Aramaic language of the Western Asian Family of languages. Syriac was emerged in the region of Osroene, region and state in Upper Mesopotamia, during the first century. Language is a set of words to express our ideas to others. On the other hand, literature is the thought which is expressed with the help of language. The aim of the course is to teach Syriac language and literature, and also to understand the cultural, social and historical aspects of Syriac language and literature.
