M.Sc. Applied Microbiology

Eligibility: Graduation in Biological Sciences/Food Science/Chemistry/MBBS or equivalent
Course Level : Postgraduate (PG)
Duration : 2 Years
Description :

Microbiology is the branch of biology deals with the study of all living organisms that is too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as 'microbes'. These microbes play key roles in nutrient cycling, biodegradation/bio-deterioration, climate change, food spoilage, the cause and control of disease, biotechnology, manufacture of bio-fuels and drugs, food production and processing etc. It encompasses fields including medicine, clinical research, agriculture, nanotechnology, chemical technology, diary, etc. Applied Microbiology is a branch of microbiology which teaches the application of microbiological theory and techniques, especially for the industrial oriented activities like research, production, product development etc. Master of Science or M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology is a two year postgraduate program with four semesters of study. This course is designed to provide good theoretical and practical skills to students to become excellent professional in the field.
