Microbiology is the branch of biology deals with the study of all living organisms that is too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as 'microbes'. These microbes play key roles in nutrient cycling, biodegradation/bio-deterioration, climate change, food spoilage, the cause and control of disease, biotechnology, manufacture of bio-fuels and drugs, food production and processing etc. It encompasses fields including medicine, clinical research, agriculture, nanotechnology, chemical technology, diary, etc. Master of Science or M.Sc. in Microbiology is a two year postgraduate program with four semesters of study. This course is designed to improve the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students in the field of microbiology to become excellent professionals in the field.
