Master of Science or M.Sc. in Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing is a two-year postgraduate professional program offers comprehensive knowledge necessary for the modern health care of women with up-to date clinically relevant information in women’s health care. It addresses and contains topics, which are incorporated in the obstetrics and gynecology nursing with major focus on the role of nurses in providing quality maternal and newborn care. Nursing is a profession within the Health Care Sector encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disables and dying people. This program, Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing equip the students with the knowledge and understanding in supporting the women in labour, maintain proper records, and deliver her safely and resuscitate her new born when necessary. The program also helps students to achieve knowledge in how to ensure healthy antenatal period followed by a safe normal delivery with a healthy child and an uneventful postpartum period.
